The best time to eat:
Eat Fats: 10am
If you consume fat earlier in the day you are more likely to burn it off. Leaving less opportunity for you to convert it into fat and thus not gaining excess weight.
Eat Carbohydrates: 1pm
Carbohydrates have the ability to calm you and they help release serotonin into the synapse (makes you feel happy). Eating carbohydrates can actually make you more enjoyable to work with because your mood will be more stable. A diet that restricts carbohydrates is really an emotional breakdown waiting to happen.
Eat Sugar: 2pm
Sugar isn't always bad unless you are always eating it. Sugar can give you an energy boost to get you through the rest of your work day. Don't hit the sugar too hard because you'll crash before you even make it through the afternoon traffic. Might I suggest a piece of dark chocolate?
Drink Alcohol: 5pm
"It's 5 o'clock somewhere" there is some wisdom in this justification for drinking at 5 pm. More than a glass of alcohol is a depressant, but one glass is actually a stimulant and can keep you up if you drink too close to your bedtime. Aim for at least a 4 hour window before bedtime to avoid sleep disruptions. There's a difference between a alcohol induced coma and a restful sleep. When we consume alcohol we actually disrupt our REM sleep which is where we dream and get the most restful sleep. So it may seem like your pre-sleep bottle of wine helps you hit the hay faster, but in actuality it will make you wake up earlier and more periodically. Now that you know the best time to eat these foods this does not mean you should pile up the donuts in the morning and guzzle down a 6 pack of soda after lunch. If you are going to eat these foods you now know when to do so. Remember to always keep portions in mind, and always always drink plenty of water throughout the entire day.
Sincerely,
sp
Oooh do you mean 10 AM for fats? Otherwise late night poutine is a good thing, right???
ReplyDeletehaha oops. Thanks Les, and DO not under any circumstances eat poutine at 10pm unless you want a food baby. :)
ReplyDeleteOr if you are in Montreal then by all means. Have the poutine. It's worth the food baby.
ReplyDeleteSo my breakfast croissant (10 whilst I am not working!) and my post work (despite not working) 5pm drink is spot on? Brilliant :-)
