Do it yourself: Jewelery

I've been paying attention to fashion long enough now to notice that fashion is cyclical; trends almost inevitably come back around eventually (with few exceptions). So open up those tickle trunks and get creative, you never know what you might come up with. And when people ask you where you got your necklace you can say "Oh thanks I made it".

The layered necklaces seen here, have traveled great lengths and suffered dyer consequences in becoming dramatically transformed into lovely pieces of jewelery. They used to live much different lives.

The necklace featured on the left has broadened it horizons, once locked to a ring, and forced to smash up against others, it felt artificial, now this little guy enjoys the spotlight.

The circular fella seen here on the right used to live a life dangling from ear to ear; constantly seeing things from a different point of view. Striving for some consistency, and a firmer support system; this abandoned piece was longing to break free of its clutched confinement inside a jewelery box, and after paying its dues it too has made its way to front and center.

Play around with different ideas and have fun: recycle old key chains or earrings and give them a new life with a piece of string or an old chain. My favorite necklace was one that I made from lucky coins I bought from a little Chinese lady at the Byward Market in Ottawa a few summers ago. There were three coins and I attached them to an old chain my mother wasn't using; sadly I broke two of them, not sure what that says about my luck.
Do it yourself Jewelery: give it a go!
That's my two cents for today :)

sincerely,

PS: If you've made your own jewelery send me photos and I'll upload them :)
