Merry Christmas Eve

December 24, 2010

The presents are wrapped and topped with ribbons and bows: everything is ready to go. The scent of gingerbread spills out of the kitchen and all through the house. Relatives slip in from the cold and are greeted by Bing Crosby. We laugh and catch up while his voice occupies the background; filling in the gaps and spaces between conversation. Candles illuminate the windows, so Santa knows where to stop tonight. Excitement fills the air, as we sit around in anticipation dreaming of a white Christmas.
